Am I back on DA? Who knows. I haven't written anything in years, and I sure as hell cannot draw, so maybe I'll stick around.

Starting work on Pandora's Gate about a year ago. Back then it was called Anima, and it was totally different. It started out as a total fantasy piece, with a boy and a girl that were traveling together. The guy was a wimp, really couldn't do much of anything, while the girl poked and prodded him to do things and to fight, etc.

Each weapon with each person they encountered would be a famous weapon (real or mythological), and they'd run into the people that owned or created these weapons too. Each time they fought, they'd absorb the anima of the weapon, allowing them to use it as well. Or their weapons would "evolve" into another mythological weapon. For the male, it would ultimately result in Excalibur, for the female it would result in Diana's Bow. Or Artemis. Was still up in the air about that one.

However, through many trials and tribulations, Pandora's Gate was born. I still am using the same concept about a boy and a girl, but they're a little older, and Von has come a long way from where he started. As the story progresses, it'll make more sense as to why he's so confident and calm, as opposed to his original character design. I think what's so unique about Pandora's character is that she can lie so easily, she can flip between being completely scared and completely calm, and she's a strong female. I haven't read/seen too many stories where the female lead is strong, so I wanted to kind of bring that out. Her strength isn't too apparent in this first piece, but it'll really shine through as the story progresses.

I tried REALLY hard to make every name a pun. Some things just don't work.

For future reference, the story isn't really placed anywhere, but the general area of California. Eventually it'll head up into Seattle, with many stops in between. For the first part of this piece, it'll mostly take place at the university. Pandora and Von are going to meet a lot of people there, some good, some not so good. I've got a lot of good things planned for this one, be ready.

To be really honest, I think Pandora's Gate would do so much better as a manga. At least, that's how I envision it. Maybe if it takes off, and I can find an artist, it'll get there. One can certainly dream.
